Tip #7: EYE TRACKING – Eyes on the ball

Do you have trouble catching the ball (or coach athletes who do)?

Use a softball for older athletes or a beanbag for younger ones. Apply numbers to the ball/bag by writing or using stickers.

Tell the athlete, “Carefully watch the ball and tell me what letter you see.” After the athlete has visually fixated on the ball/bag, slowly throw it, encouraging the athlete to look for the specific target on the ball.

End result? “Good eye,” shouts the coach!
