Why RIM®?

On January 31, 2025, I closed a beautiful chapter, retiring after 47 years of optometric practice. It was a career filled with purpose, challenge, growth, and profound human connection. I carry immense gratitude for the privilege of serving patients for nearly five decades.

At the very same time, a new path was quietly opening.

In January 2025, I began a 10-month journey to re-certify as a RIM® (Regenerating Images in Memory) facilitator. The process founded by Dr. Deb Sandella was completed in December 2025. It was far more than coursework. It was a season of deep learning, client practice, mentoring, and meaningful inner reflection. It invited me not only to refine my skills, but to grow personally… to listen more deeply, trust more fully, and hold space more gently.
I feel profound gratitude for this sacred work.

Facilitating RIM® sessions is an honor. To witness someone’s vulnerability, to create a safe and compassionate space, and to support their inner wisdom as it unfolds. It is truly heart-connected work. It is quiet, powerful, and deeply transformative. I approach each session with reverence and respect for the courage it takes to look inward.

What is RIM®?

RIM®, or Regenerating Images in Memory, is a therapeutic technique developed by Dr. Deb Sandella. It is designed to help people process and heal emotional wounds stored in their memories.

Do you ever feel caught in cycles of overwhelm, anxiety, or emotional fatigue — even when you “know better”?

RIM® is a neuroscience-informed, heart-centered process that works with your natural emotional regulation system. Through your imagination and body awareness, it allows the deeper parts of the body to release stored emotional stress patterns.

I often describe it as clearing your emotional memory cache. You keep the learning and the wisdom of your life experiences, but the emotional charge that once felt heavy or overwhelming can soften and shift.

RIM® does not force change. It invites it.

It honors your inner knowing. And it supports healing in a way that feels organic and aligned.

What to Expect in a RIM® Session?

RIM® is a powerful process designed to create lasting shifts in perspective, leading to greater ease and well-being. It works by using imagination and body awareness to uncover the root of an issue and transform how it’s held emotionally in the body.

While your factual memory stays the same, RIM® helps update the emotional memory—so instead of reliving old patterns, you experience a new, more supportive and affirming internal response. This shift often removes emotional blocks and creates a sense of lightness and clarity.

RIM® engages both the creative and logical parts of the brain, allowing insights to arise naturally and integrate more fully.

A Safe, Supportive Space

You will be held in a safe, nonjudgmental space throughout the session. You remain fully aware, in control, and able to pause or stop at any time. There is no “right” way to do this. Your experience is the guide. I’m here to support you, but what you feel and sense always takes priority. You also will have the opportunity to imagine bringing in a virtual resource, i.e.: a family member, an ancestor, spiritual guide, a superpower or anything that helps support and protect you.

During the Session

We’ll meet via Zoom for 90-120 minutes, with no pressure to use the full time. We’ll begin by discussing your intention and answering any questions.

You’ll then relax into a meditative state (eyes open, closed, or whatever feels comfortable) and focus inward. As you share what arises (thoughts, emotions, body sensations, images, or sounds), I’ll gently facilitate the process.

Your role is simply to stay present with your inner experience and describe it. Everything that comes up is welcome.

After the Session

We’ll take a few minutes to reflect, whether that’s a brief check-in or a longer discussion, depending on what you need. Afterward, you may want to journal, take a walk, or sit with the experience to deepen integration.

If you choose to continue, sessions are typically spaced 2–3 weeks apart to allow time for the work to settle and unfold.

Physical healing of chronic illness may require more frequent, ongoing sessions.

Location

Sessions are held via Zoom and can be joined from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
